Overview
Wrought iron stands the test of time -- and inclement weather. Meadowcraft makes and markets wrought iron chairs and tables primarily for outdoor use, but also for use as indoor home décor. The company also manufactures chair cushions and umbrellas, and its collections are sold through specialty furniture retailers nationwide. Meadowcraft maintains manufacturing and distribution facilities in Alabama. Founded in 1923 by the late William "Bill" McTyeire, Jr. as Birmingham Ornamental Iron, Meadowcraft was sold in 1946. An involuntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition was filed against the company by a group of creditors led by Burdale Financial in March 2009. Asset sales began not long after.
