Overview

Missile. Boom. Defense. Attack. That's not the acronym, but MBDA is the second-largest missile maker in the world behind Raytheon. Jointly owned by BAE Systems and EADS (37.5% each) and Finmeccanica (25%), the company's products include a mind-boggling combination of air-to-air, air-to-ground, ground-to-air, anti-ship, anti-tank, submarine-launched, ship-launched, and cruise missile systems. Countermeasure systems include missile-intercepting missiles, RF decoys, infrared flares, infrared missile detectors, and missile-warning systems. Its products and systems are used by 90 armed forces throughout the world. MBDA was formed by the merger of Matra BAe Dynamics, EADS-Aerospatiale Matra Missiles, and Alenia Marconi Systems.
