The company is one of Chile's top manufacturers of finished and semi-finished copper, brass, and aluminum products including rolled-bars and pipes, and window and door frames. It also makes flexible packaging for durable goods. Madeco sells its products to construction, energy, and mining concerns, as well as consumer product manufacturers. Madeco's reach is primarily in South America. However in 2008, Madeco sold its Wire & Cable unit to Nexans, a worldwide supplier of wire and cable. In exchange, Madeco picked up a 9% stake in Nexans. The tie with Nexans promises to open international cable markets for Madeco.
