Mackays Company Description

Mackays Stores sells more than just your average mac (though it sells them, too). The UK retailer sells family clothing, lingerie, and housewares from about 270 locations in smaller towns in England, Scotland, and Wales. The value-priced fashion chain is expanding and converting all of its stores to the M&Co format (launched in 2003). M&Co was launched following the company's acquisition of the Laroque chain in 2003. The company has set a target of 310 stores, though has had difficulties reaching that number at the rate of expansion it has hoped for. The majority shareholder of Mackays Stores is its Chairman, Iain McGeoch, who retains 90% ownership. Mackays opened its first store at Clydebank in 1953.
