Mackays Company Description
Mackays Stores sells more than just your average mac (though it sells them, too). One of the UK's largest privately-owned retailers, the company sells women's, men's, and kids' apparel and accessories, jewelry, lingerie, and housewares from more than 285 stores in smaller towns in England, Scotland, and Wales under the M&Co. banner. In a bid to update its image and move upmarket, the value-priced fashion chain has converted all of its stores to the M&Co. name, which was launched in 2003 following the company's acquisition of the Laroque chain. The majority shareholder of Mackays Stores is its Chairman and CEO, Iain McGeoch. Mackays opened its first store at Clydebank in 1953.
