No change to make your piles of laundry clean again? Mac-Gray operates debit card- and coin-operated washers and dryers located in about 88,000 apartment buildings, condos, dorms, hotels, and public housing complexes in some 43 states and the District of Columbia. Additionally, Mac-Gray distributes equipment to laundromats, hotels, hospitals, and restaurants as part of its business. Laundry facilities account for the majority of the company's earnings. In 2010, Mac-Gray sold its MicroFridge business (acquired in 1998), which accounted for 10% of sales in 2008. CEO Stewart MacDonald and his family own about 30% of the firm, which was founded in 1927.
