Mac-Gray operates debit card- and coin-operated washers and dryers in about 90,000 apartment buildings, condos, dorms, hotels, and public housing complexes in more than 40 states and the District of Columbia. It also supplies card- and coin-operated copiers for college and public libraries. The company sold its MicroFridge business (acquired in 1998) in 2010. In addition, Mac-Gray distributes equipment to laundromats, hotels, hospitals, and restaurants. Laundry facilities account for the majority of the company's earnings. CEO Stewart MacDonald and his family own about 30% of the firm, which was founded in 1927.
