Mac-Gray operates debit card- and coin-operated washers and dryers in about 70,000 apartment buildings, dorms, and other housing complexes in more than 40 states and the District of Columbia. It also supplies card- and coin-operated copiers for college and public libraries, as well as MicroFridge units (combo refrigerator, freezer, and microwave) for academic, military, and other housing facilities. In addition, Mac-Gray distributes equipment to laundromats, hotels, hospitals, and restaurants. Laundry facilities account for the majority of the company's earnings. Chairman and CEO Stewart MacDonald and his family own about 43% of the firm, which was founded in 1927.
