The company also provides municipal finance services for local governments. Its Tower Asset Management subsidiary manages some $450 million of client assets. M.L. Stern has offices in California and Las Vegas. The company was founded by president Mickey Stern in 1980 and acquired by Pacific Life in 1999. SWS Group bought M.L. Stern from Pacific Life in 2008.
