M Plan Company Description
The "M" in M Plan could stand for "managed." An Indiana-based health maintenance organization (HMO), M Plan manages the health care coverage of some 150,000 Hoosiers in the northern and central parts of the state. It offers group coverage through about 200 employers and has introduced a plan designed for small businesses, called M Plan Options. The company also sells Senior Smart Choice, a Medicare supplemental insurance product. Its provider network includes some 6,400 physicians and 40 hospitals. M Plan announced plans in 2007 to get out of the commercial HMO business in Indiana and is transitioning its employer group members to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana (a part of WellPoint).
