Lufthansa Company Description
Germany's air ambassador, Deutsche Lufthansa is one of the world's largest airline companies. Together with its subsidiaries the carrier operates about 500 aircraft from hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, and Zurich. It flies passengers to some 250 destinations worldwide, not counting those served by code-sharing partners. (Code-sharing enables airlines to sell tickets on one another's flights and thus extend their networks.) Lufthansa's partners include fellow members of the Star Alliance such as UAL's United Airlines. The company's Lufthansa Cargo unit is a leading global airfreight carrier; Lufthansa also has interests in aircraft maintenance, catering, and information technology businesses.
