Lufkin Industries is all geared up to help pump oil. Through its Oil Field division the company manufactures and services pumping units, automation equipment, and foundry castings. It also provides computer control equipment and analytical services used to maximize well efficiency. Through its Power Transmission unit, Lufkin Industries manufactures and services gearboxes (in power levels from 20 to 85,000 horsepower) used in large-scale industrial applications. In 2008 the company exited its commercial truck trailer manufacturing business in order to focus on its core oil field equipment and power transmission businesses.
