Lone Star Funds rounds up distressed companies around the world. The private equity firm has organized more than $13 billion in funds since 1995. After the subprime mortgage lending crisis, Lone Star Funds has been a Texas tornado of real estate acquisitions. It bought Accredited Home Lenders for more than $400 million in 2007. Lone Star Funds announced plans to launch two more funds in 2008 worth a combined $6.5 billion.
