Overview

Give me Liberty or give me shopping. Liberty International provides the latter. The real estate investment trust (REIT) owns and develops shopping centers mostly in the UK. Subsidiary Capital Shopping Centres owns all or part of some 15 UK regional shopping centers totaling nearly 13 million sq. ft.; major tenants include Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, and Boots. The company's Capital & Counties subsidiary invests in and develops retail and office properties in the UK and US, with concentrations in Central London and in California (including Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Francisco). Liberty International Construction and Development oversees projects for the entire group.
