The company, which operates as Lexcom Communications, provides business and residential phone services. Its services include local access and long-distance calling, as well as dial-up and DSL Internet access. Lexcom also offers cable television and resells wireless phone service through an agreement with AT&T Mobility(formerly Cingular). The company began operations with the first phone lines strung for the Lexington Telephone Company in 1896; descendants of the original owners -- the Harris family -- still hold a majority stake in the company.
