That spring in your step after a good night's sleep may be there courtesy of Leggett & Platt -- the pioneer of coiled bedsprings. Primarily using aluminum and steel, it makes finished furniture (headboards), commercial furnishings (store displays, shelving), and die-cast products (components for gas barbecue grills and outdoor lighting fixtures). (It sold its die-cast aluminum products segment in mid-2008.) Leggett & Platt also produces industrial materials (wire, steel tubing) and specialized items (quilting machinery, commercial truck equipment). Customers include furniture retailers and manufacturers of automobiles, construction-related products, furniture and bedding, and garden and yard equipment.
