Lafarge Malaysia Company Description
Lafarge Malayan Cement makes and sells cement, ready-mix concrete, and other building materials. Its cement products include masonry, blastfurnace, pulverized-fly ash, and sulphate-resisting Portland cement. Lafarge Malayan Cement is the largest cement producer in Malaysia with a market share of some 45%; it has three cement plants, about a dozen sales offices, one grinding plant, one dry-mix plant, and five terminals throughout the country. The company began in 1950 as Malayan Cement, a subsidiary of the UK's Blue Circle Industries. In 2001 the French firm Lafarge, the world's largest cement maker, purchased Blue Circle.
