The risk consulting company is made up of business units such as Background Screening (pre-employment background checking, drug testing, surveillance services); Litigation Support and Data Recovery (trial consulting, electronic surveillance, computer forensics and other technology services); and Consulting Services (business intelligence, investigations, crisis emergency management, security consulting). The firm has offices in about 65 cities in more than 30 countries. Kroll was founded in 1972 by Jules Kroll. It is a subsidiary of insurance broker Marsh & McLennan Companies.
