Kimball Hill inc Company Description
Chicagoland's GI generation and their offspring, who have long thrived in the 'burbs, can thank lawyer-turned-builder Kimball Hill, a pioneer of the city's suburbs and founder of his namesake company. The company built mid-priced homes under the name Kimball Hill Homes in the Chicago area as well as California, Florida, Nevada, Texas, and Wisconsin. Unable to withstand turmoil in the US housing market, Kimball Hill filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April 2008. In 2009 the company's liquidation plan was confirmed, and the company was funding a liquidation trust to pay its creditors. Kimball Hill is selling its assets, including undeveloped land, and expects to complete that task in 2010.
