Financial services giant KeyCorp has the clout of mean Henry Potter of Bedford Falls, but wants to be the sweet George Bailey of bankers. With a focus on retail operations, flagship subsidiary KeyBank operates about 1,000 branches in more than a dozen states scattered throughout the Northeast, the Midwest, the Rocky Mountains, and the Pacific Northwest (including Alaska). Its operations are divided into two groups: Community banking offers traditional services such as deposits, loans, and financial planning; while national banking provides real estate capital, equipment financing, and capital markets services to large corporate clients nationwide.
