Comprising about 1,900 lawyers and more than 30 offices located in North America, Europe, and Asia, K&L Gates represents a number of major multinational companies, large banks and mutual funds, and public sector entities. The firm divides its wide array of practices into five main areas: corporate and transactional; intellectual property; financial services; litigation and dispute resolution; and regulatory and policy. K&L Gates took its current shape in 2007 when New York-based Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham merged with Seattle-based firm Preston Gates & Ellis. In early 2009, K&L Gates bought Chicago-based Bell Boyd, & Lloyd, which added about 200 lawyers to its firm.
