The firm represents major multinational companies, large banks and mutual funds, and public sector entities. Clients have included Garuda Indonesia and Leed Petroleum. The firm divides its wide array of practices into six main areas: corporate and transactional; intellectual property; financial services; litigation and dispute resolution; real estate; and regulatory and policy. K&L Gates took its current shape in 2007 when Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham merged with Preston Gates & Ellis. In 2009, K&L Gates bought Chicago-based Bell Boyd, & Lloyd.
