JPMorgan Asset Management is no mutt. Tracing its roots to the 19th century, the business unit of JPMorgan Chase combines the venerable investment management operations of J.P. Morgan, Chase Manhattan, and Robert Fleming Holdings. (Chase Manhattan bought Robert Fleming Holdings in 2000, then merged with J.P. Morgan the following year.) JPMorgan Asset Management serves investors around the globe, offering securities, fixed-income, private equity, and real estate investment services, hedge and mutual funds, currency management, and trust services. It also provides private banking services for wealthy individuals and manages retirement plans for corporations, governments, and foundations.
