JDS Uniphase (JDSU) is drawn to the warming glow of optical networks. Through a series of acquisitions, primarily suppliers of network monitoring and test instruments, the company has reorganized into three main businesses. Communications Test & Measurement consists of JDSU's test and measurement instruments acquisitions. Optical Communications makes components, modules, and equipment used to build fiber-optic telecommunications, data, and cable television networks. Advanced Optical Technologies contains JDSU's Flex Products and Custom Optics businesses. JDSU sells to customers in the communications, commercial, consumer, and military markets. The company gets about half of its sales in the Americas.
