Irving Place Company Description

Irving Place Capital (formerly Bear Stearns Merchant Banking) invests in leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and growth opportunities, spending around $100 million-$250 million in equity capital per transaction. It was previously the private equity arm of investment bank Bear Stearns before it was spun off as an independent group after JPMorgan took control of its parent in 2008. It focuses its investments on mid-market companies in the retail, consumer products, and financial services industries, but will invest in other markets if the right opportunity comes along. It avoids high-tech, real estate, and early-stage companies.
