Overview
Fans of Jetsons episodes appreciate iRobot. The company makes robots for all sorts of applications -- from military and industrial to home appliances. Its Roomba FloorVac and Scooba are the first of their kind to automatically clean floors. iRobot also makes the Looj gutter-cleaning 'bot and the Seaglider unmanned underwater vehicle for use by oceanographers, including the US Navy and researchers. iRobot also has sold more than 3,500 PackBots, which perform battlefield reconnaissance and bomb disposal for the US Army. Boasting offices in the US and Hong Kong, the company sells its products worldwide through retailers. It was founded in 1990 by robot engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
