IRKUT Company Description

Russian warplane maker IRKUT wants to be known for more than its Sukhoi fighter jets. The company designs and builds combat and amphibian aircraft that have, for over 70 years, been delivered to more than 37 countries. While military aircraft account for about three-quarters of sales, IRKUT also makes unmanned aerial vehicles, combat navigation and targeting systems, aircraft components, and civil airplanes. The company has partnered with EADS for help in adapting operations to global industry standards. As part of the partnership, IRKUT and EADS are collaborating on a contract to make components for Airbus. IRKUT management owns more than half of the company.
