Elon Musk knows good buzz can have a handsome long-term payoff. The CEO and product architect of Tesla Motors watched his 28 million shares of stock grow in value to $674 million by close of Q2, far outpacing other CEOs who lead companies through public offerings in the same quarter. In addition to guiding the production of high-profile electric cars, Musk is also known for his leadership of Space Exploration Technologies and as the co-founder of PayPal. Tesla Motors IPO was warmly received with its per-share stock price closing up 40% after its first few days of trading on the NASDQ (GM) from its offer price of $17.
