Overview
Intrawest doesn't mind peaks and valleys in its business, as long as they're covered with snow. The company owns or has interests in a six ski resorts in North America, including Steamboat Ski & Resort in Colorado and Stratton Mountain Ski Resort in Vermont. It also owns Canadian Mountain Holidays, a provider of helicopter access to ski and hiking trails, and has a small portfolio of managed properties (such as the Honua Kai Resort in Maui, Hawaii). Intrawest is also active in real estate, selling and developing properties near its resorts and at other locations in North America and Europe. Intrawest was taken private by private equity firm Fortress Investment Group in 2006 in a deal worth about $2.8 billion.
