Intercell Company Description
Intercell AG really wants give the pharmaceutical industry a shot in the arm. The Austria-based company develops new vaccinations, using a proprietary method of identifying novel antigens (Antigen Identificaiton Programme, or AIP), particularly those invoking strong immune responses. Some of the company's biggest contenders are related to vaccines to tackle all serotypes of pneumonia. Intercell has commercial license agreements with larger companies, including Sanofi Pasteur and Merck, which pay royalties to produce and market vaccines Intercell develops. In 2007, Intercell inked with Novartis the industry's largest vaccine development deal in a decade.
