Overview
Imerge brings sight and sound through the Internet into your home. The company, which emerged from the Generics Group in 1998, designs and manufactures hard disk-based audio products and media appliances, like the SoundServer, for file storage, and the Network Audio Player, which acts as a server for multiple players in a single household. Imerge also licenses a product called XiVA that connects a stereo, television, and personal computer to one network. Among the companies that own XiVA licenses are Creston and AMX. Imerge was acquired by NTK Holdings, parent of Nortek Holdings, in August 2005.
