Industrial Light & Magic
Overview
Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a deity of Hollywood special effects, started creating galaxies far, far away a long, long time ago. A subsidiary of Lucasfilm, ILM provides visual effects services to the film industry. Sister firm Skywalker Sound provides digital audio post-production services. George Lucas originally started the companies in 1975 to create the special effects for Star Wars. Since then ILM has worked on hundreds of films and earned its fair share of Oscars. In addition to the films in the Star Wars series, the company's projects include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
