II-VI Company Description
II-VI sees the world through amber-colored lenses -- at least while it is focusing CO2 laser light. The company (pronounced "two-six") makes lenses, mirrors, prisms, and other infrared optical components used to manipulate laser beams. Additionally, it produces selenium and tellurium metals and chemicals, and silicon carbide substrates. II-VI's clients -- drawn from the aerospace, health care, industrial, military, and telecommunications equipment sectors -- employ these components in lasers for precision manufacturing, fiber-optic transmission and reception, and other applications. Subsidiary VLOC makes laser and sensing system parts and materials. The company gets about 47% of its sales outside the US.
