IdleAire Technologies Company Description
If you've bought gas at a truck stop at night, then you've seen, heard, and smelled IdleAire Technologies' market -- truckers who have parked their rigs with their diesels idling in order to keep the electricity on and the AC running. IdleAire aims to get drivers to instead shut down their engines and hook up with the company's HVAC systems, mounted in parking lots and connected to cab windows by flexible hoses. At the end of the hose is a control panel for the AC system that also has electricity, Internet, satellite TV, and telephone connections. IdleAire systems are available at about 8,500 truck parking spaces in the US. The company is reorganizing under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
