Overview
A passionate story helped resurrect Icon Productions. Mel Gibson's movie production company Icon Productions made a name for itself when it independently financed The Passion of the Christ after Fox passed on theatrically distributing the controversial surprise box office hit. Other Icon films include 2006's Apocalypto, released by Disney, and 2007's Seraphim Falls, as well as the Gibson vehicles Braveheart, Payback, and What Women Want. Gibson got his start with the Australian apocalyptic action film Mad Max, which was released in 1979. He founded his company Icon in 1989.
