Overview
Big Blue has plenty of northern exposure. IBM Canada encompasses research and development, manufacturing, sales, marketing, and service operations. Major divisions include a software research and development laboratories in Ontario that is one of the largest IBM R&D centers in the world. Additional software development labs are located in Quebec and British Columbia. The subsidiary's semiconductor packaging plant in Quebec provides test and assembly services to its parent company as well as other manufacturers. IBM established operations in Canada in 1917.
