Overview

Big Blue has plenty of northern exposure. IBM Canada encompasses research and development, manufacturing, sales, marketing, and service operations in Canada for its US parent. Its major divisions include a software research and development laboratory in Ontario that is one of the largest IBM R&D centers in the world. Additional software development labs are located in Quebec and British Columbia. The unit's semiconductor packaging plant in Quebec provides test and assembly services to its parent company, as well as other manufacturers. IBM Canada has sales and service centers throughout the country. IBM first established operations in Canada in 1917.
