Atlas may hold the world on his shoulders, but this company holds most of the North American continent. HSBC North America Holdings, a subsidiary of big British bank HSBC Holdings, was formed in 2004 to comprise all of HSBC's US and Canadian operations, including HSBC USA, HSBC Bank Canada, and HSBC Finance. (Ownership of HSBC Canada was transferred to HSBC Holdings in 2010.) HSBC USA has more than 450 locations, mainly in New York, that offer personal and commercial banking services, private banking, insurance, and corporate investment banking, while HSBC Finance issues Visa, MasterCard, and private-label credit cards. HSBC Holdings is selling most of its US credit card portfolio to Capital One.
