Houghton Mifflin Holding Company Company Description

Alice Cooper's 1972 album School's Out probably doesn't get much play around the offices of Houghton Mifflin Holding Company. The firm does business through its Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company subsidiary, a top publisher of textbooks for the K-12 markets. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt also offers trade and reference books for adults and children, such as the American Heritage Dictionary. In 2007 Houghton Mifflin acquired several businesses from Harcourt, another K-12 publisher, creating Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. It sold its College Division in 2008. Houghton Mifflin Holding Company is owned by Education Media and Publishing Group.
