Overview
With a little rain and a little sun, Hines Horticulture has grown into one of the largest commercial nursery operators in North America. The company runs about a half dozen nurseries in Arizona, California, Oregon, and Texas that sell more than 5,000 varieties of ornamental shrubs and plants. Its products are sold to home improvement stores (The Home Depot, Lowe's), mass merchandisers (Wal-Mart, Target), and independent garden centers. Most plants carry the Hines Nurseries or Iverson brand names. The company was founded in 1920 by James Hines. It was acquired out of bankruptcy in 2008 by private investment firm Black Diamond Capital Management.
