Hertz Company Description
If you've ever said, "Don't worry about it, it's just a rental," guess who hurts: Hertz, one of the world's leading car rental firms. On its own and through agents and licensees, Hertz operates about 8,000 rental locations in more than 140 countries worldwide, including some 500 at US airports. Its fleet includes some 500,000 cars from Ford, General Motors, Toyota, and other manufacturers. Car rental accounts for about 80% of its sales. Hertz also rents a variety of heavy equipment through some 345 locations in North America, Europe, and China. Investment firms Clayton Dubilier & Rice, The Carlyle Group, and Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity own some 55% of Hertz, which is continuing to cut jobs in 2009.
