Overview
The J.H. Harvey Co. operates about 70 Harveys Supermarkets mostly in Georgia, but also in northern Florida and South Carolina. Founded in 1950, the regional grocery chain was acquired in 2003 by international food retailer Delhaize Group and became its Belgian parent's fourth US banner. Under Delhaize's ownership, Harveys has grown, with about 15 new stores added since the acquisition. The new stores belonged to the Food Lion supermarket chain (also owned by Delhaize), which were converted to the Harveys banner. Most Harveys stores are between 18,000 and 35,000 square feet. About a third of the grocery chain's Georgia stores have in-store phamacy departments.
