Overview
Harvard University Press (HUP) publishes books in the humanities, as well as the social and natural sciences. HUP was established in 1913 as the university press for Harvard University. It has published the works of notable authors such as T.S. Eliot, Igor Stravinsky, e.e. cummings, and Umberto Eco. In addition to contemporary authors, HUP also publishes the Loeb Classical Library series, which features ancient Greek and Latin literature in original text and English translation. The Press additionally operates a bookstore called the Display Room, located in Harvard Square, that is dedicated to selling HUP publications. HUP does not receive subsidies from Harvard University; its funding comes from an endowment.
