Local builders find few looking to buy new homes [Sacramento Bee (CA)](10 Oct 2008 04:00:00 EDT)Oct. 10--Thanks to deep discounts on repossessed homes, the summer season's existing home sales have been somewhat upbeat. Not so for new homes. During the just-finished third quarter, builders sold 1,204 homes, the lowest quarter since the Folsom-based Gregory Group began tracking numbers in 1999.

State's home builders expect worst year since 1954 [Sacramento Bee (CA)](25 Sep 2008 04:00:00 EDT)Sep. 25--For most of 2008, it has seemed that California's home building industry could hardly scale back its expectations further. The Construction Industry Research Board has downsized estimated home starts in California this year to 70,000. The board now predicts California builders will start only 74,000 residences in 2009.
