Handan Iron & Steel Company Description
Handan Iron & Steel manufactures steel, iron, and chemicals -- chiefly hot- and cold-rolled steel and steel bars, rods, and plates. Handan, which distributes its products throughout China, produces about 8 million tons of steel and 4 million tons of iron annually. In 2008, the government of Hebei province combined Handan with state-controlled Tangshan Iron & Steel and other steel companies located in the province to form the country's largest steel enterprise, called Hebei Iron & Steel. The new company plans to boost its production from its current level of about 30 million tons to 50 million tons by 2010.
