Hafslund Company Description
Hafslund generates, distributes, and sells electricity in Norway, in addition to providing security services. The utility operates regulated power distribution assets in south-central Norway (520,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers), generates power at nine hydroelectric facilities along the southern Glomma waterway (between Øyeren and Fredrikstad, in southeastern Norway), and markets electricity to 600,000 retail customers throughout Norway. Hafslund also provides home security systems and corporate security solutions, and has some 80,000 residential alarm customers. The company announced in 2008 that it's selling the residential alarm business to Securitas Direct for about $125 million.
