Guittard Company Description
There's gold in them thar cavities. Guittard Chocolate Company founder Etienne Guittard was one of many 49ers hailing from France who didn't strike it rich in California's Gold Rush. However, he did hit pay dirt with his family's recipe for chocolate. Guittard, products, sold mostly to candy manufacturers, include cocoa, chocolate syrup, baking chips such as vanilla milk chips and butterscotch chips, mints and mint wafers, and milk chocolate balls and eggs. Guittard also provides chocolate flakes and chunks. The San Francisco company, founded in 1868 and rebuilt after the great earthquake of 1906, is owned and operated by the Guittard family, including president and CEO Gary Guittard, Etienne's great-grandson.
