Guitar Center Company Description
What AutoZone is to the garage, Guitar Center is to the garage band. The nation's #1 retailer of guitars, amplifiers, drums, keyboards, and pro-audio equipment operates more than 210 stores in about 40 US states. Brands include Fender, Roland, Yamaha, and Sony. Stores also offer used and vintage instruments, computer hardware and software, and musician services (CD duplication, digital distribution). Its American Music Group division runs about 95 Music & Arts Center stores that sell and rent band and orchestral instruments. The music retailer acquired ailing Dennis Bamber in early 2007. Later that year Guitar Center was taken private by investment firm Bain Capital Partners (BCP) for about $2.1 billion.
