Banco Santander is the leader in the running of Spanish banks. The company offers retail banking and consumer finance in Spain, Portugal, the UK, and other parts of Europe. Subsidiaries such as Banco Santander Chile, Banco Santander (Brasil), Santander Río in Argentina, and Mexico's Grupo Financiero Santander make it a top banking group in Latin America, where it has operations in about 15 countries. Through other subsidiaries, Banco Santander offers asset management, private banking, corporate and investment banking, and insurance. All told, the company has some 80 million customers and more than 13,000 locations in more than 40 countries.
