Greenville Hospital System is a not-for-profit hospital system serving South Carolina's "Golden Strip" (the I-85 corridor connecting Charlotte, North Carolina, and Atlanta). Founded in 1912, the system today includes five campuses with more than 1,100 inpatient beds. Its flagship facility is Greenville Memorial Hospital, a tertiary referral and academic medical center with more than 700 beds; other facilities include several small community hospitals, a nursing home, and a long-term acute care hospital.
