Overview
Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and GM Korea (formerly GM Daewoo Auto & Technology) go together in more than 150 countries around the world. Once a part of the defunct Daewoo Group, GM Korea was taken over by the General Motors' family in 2002 and since revamped. The company, South Korea's #3 car maker by sales, produces GM-branded vehicles (such as Chevrolet Cruze compacts, and Spark and Aveo minicars, Captiva SUVs, and new Orlando small minivan) at its five manufacturing plants in South Korea, and an assembly plant in Vietnam. More than two-thirds of the company's output is exported as market- and brand-specific vehicle kits for assembly at GM sites in China, Thailand, India, as well as Columbia and Venezuela.
