Overview
Gist (formerly BOC Distribution Services) manages supply chain and logistics across Europe. It provides design and implementation for the global distribution of goods such as groceries, electronics, chemicals, and gas. Gist was founded in 1970 as a refrigerated trucking service. It has a fleet of 1,300 vehicles and manages 3 million square feet of warehouse space. Its clients include Marks and Spencer, British Airways, and Carlsberg (80% of the company's business is in the UK). Gist was previously owned by UK gas producer BOC Group, but BOC was acquired by leading industrial and medical gas producer The Linde Group in 2006. Linde was expected to sell off Gist, but kept it as its logistics unit.
