They may not have a Ferris wheel, but Gerland's Food Fair still wants you to visit. The regional supermarket chain, founded in 1967 by A. J. Gerland, operates about 15 grocery and convenience stores in Houston and the surrounding areas under the Grand Market, Food Fair, and Food Town banners. Gerland's stores feature its own Parade private-label products, including milk and cottage cheese; its stores also offer carryout food such as Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Antone's Famous Po'Boys (through in-store sandwich shops) and house in-store Check Cashing & More, Discount Tobacco Mart, Medicine Shoppe, and Gerland's Floral Shoppes. The firm also operates about half a dozen standalone Check Cashing & More outlets.
