Genesco Company Description
Genesco's sole concern is nicely capped off, to boot (so to speak). It sells casual and dress shoes -- primarily for men and boys -- through its about 2,175 department, discount, and specialty stores in the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Genesco operates through five segments: Journeys, Underground Station (with Jarman), Hat World (including Lids, Hat Shack, Hat Zone, Head Quarters, Cap Connection, and Lids Kids), Johnston & Murphy, and Licensed Brands (Dockers footwear). Along with its Johnston & Murphy and Journeys shops, Genesco operates Underground Station shops, which target young urban men. Genesco and rival Finish Line, which offered to acquire the firm for about $1.5 billion in 2007, terminated the deal.
